Cycle Routes
Cycle tours in the
Stormarn district
This section gives you a choice (Auswahl) of various cycle routes along which you can explore the Stormarn district by bicycle.
With the support of the Kulturstiftung der Sparkasse Stormarn (Cultural Foundation of the Stormarn Savings Bank) the cycle routes - complete with map - were published by the publishing house “Deutscher Freizeit Verlag” in a book on bicycle touring, the “Radwander-Tourenbuch”.
Unfortunately, the book is out of print, the publishing house does not exist any longer. Currently, other publishing houses are compiling new map books for Stormarn. Most of the existing maps provide information on the following cycle routes, which were newly signposted at the end of 2005.

Europe’s longest Educational Fruit and Wood Trail
Parts of the cycle routes No. 2, 6 and 7 run along Europe’s longest educational Fruit and Wood trail ("Europas längstem Obst- und Gehölzlehrpfad") (PDF, 303 KB, along the disused railway line Elmshorn- Barmstedt – Bad Oldesloe. This trail was created in 1996, and in spring 2006 it was replanted and signposted.
On Stormarn territory the fruit and wood educational trail stretches between the disused railway station Blumendorf near Bad Oldesloe and the forest car park at the Grabauer Forst, it then continues into the Segeberg district along the disused railway line until it reaches Henstedt-Ulzburg.
Clicking on the picture on the right will navigate you to the signpost (pdf file, 303 KB) for the section of the trail running through Stormarn.
In July 2006 the newspaper “Lübecker Nachrichten” published an interesting article (Artikel) (PDF, 9 KB) on the renewed educational fruit and wood trail.
