UMLANDSCOUT HAMBURG (Internet-based information system on destinations for excursions in the surrounding areas of Hamburg)

Since summer 2002 excursions and day trips can be planned by using the Internet as a resource. The information system umlandscout offers holidaymakers, weekend trippers and those seeking recreation or leisure time activities the possibility to quickly gain an overview of about 1,000 destinations in Hamburg’s environs north and south of the river Elbe.

Planning your excursion has been made easy thanks to the search functions, information on maps, texts and pictures, topical tips and plenty of links, addresses and telephone numbers concerning walking and hiking, horse riding, cycling, sailing, canoeing and leisure swimming as well as concerning all kinds of cultural history, sights and experiencing nature.
The internet address is: http://www.umlandscout.de

The central element of "umlandscout" is the well laid-out map of the region. The navigator takes you directly to the individual local recreation and holiday areas. The information is provided by the member districts of the Verein für Naherholung im Umland Hamburg e.V. (Association focussing on local recreation and holidaymaking in the environs of Hamburg), which will in the future operate and continually update the system.

"Umlandscout" is the first common and varied information platform for the citizens of the Hamburg metropolitan region.
